Mom and Me

Guest post from: Constance Rodgers

Mom helped me look into bank card processing for the restaurant when we first opened and that was good news. She’s far more into numbers and spreadsheets and rates and things than I am so I was happy to have her help – I had no idea what to do with myself in that last week before we opened because between the two of us we’d worked really hard to make sure there weren’t a lot of surprises. I was so nervous I didn’t sleep at all the night before we opened which was a terrible idea because I needed to be far more rested than I actually ended up being. But you know, I think that there’s something to be said for runningon fumesand really having to push yourself so you know what you’re capable ofat the end of the day. Running a restaurant is hard and I knew it would be(people warned me) but I’m learning each and every day which is encouraging. Ilove this new job!
